I'm in for one if you decide to build more of these. Keep us posted.

wish you made this while my interior was 100% out, but I suppose I'm in practice of taking it apart now. Seats have to come out to redye anyways. And this will give me a chance to relocate battery to the trunk too, clean up the S52 swap. Anyways I'd love to give you some business, this seems like it's gonna be expensive for a prebuilt box but give us an idea of what the price is gonna come in at so we can be more sure when we tell you whether we think we'll be interested or not. I'd be willing to prepay it it meant a price I could afford, and I'd buy an exile sub of course.

I got a free amp from a buddy of mine, it's a 4 channel i believe audiobahn amp with a metal flame on top. I'll get a model # but do you think I'll be able to use that or is it a piece of junk/ill equipped to run a sub? I think he used it to run a 14" monster audiobahn woofer, but he didn't set up his own system and I have no experience with subs, so I have no idea if it was appropriate or not.

Here's a picture of it actually. I'm not at home, out of town for a few days or i'd obviously google the part # to get specs, but if anyone recognizes the amp and can tell me something about it that'd be awesome

        here we go:

Guys, after getting that car on the road, I am just not happy with it.

Yeah, it sounds great, but WAY too much hassle and uses WAY too much trunk space.

I found some burly 8" DVC subs, I am gonna grab 4 of them and try some weirder stuff, see if I can get the box size down to 1.6 cubic feet or so, so it fits entirely under the top cavity.

          Closing SOON!

JL, not a bad product, overpriced, but not bad.

The only burly 8" they make is a bazillion dollars, so no thanks.

JL is made in China anyway, so why not start with a no-name Chinese driver?

                    The 8" I found is a DVC, 4 ohm/coil, 45 oz magnet 2" VC beast-of-an-8"

I am waiting on specs for it, theil-small is not published, and is probably a lie if it is, so I need to measure it.

                    In my spare time.

Looking forward to the update. How much are the subs you going to use would run for?

I only said Jl, cause I have a pair of 8w3 here. And hopefully when your box is available I can still use them rather than ditch out more money for some other one.

                      Thanks luke!

Yo Luke, make a box like that (that ports into the cabin) for my car for a 15" solobaric L7 and I'll buy it off you!

Luke - wouldn't air-nibblers be a perfect tool for the metal cutting? (I only ask, cause you and I feel the same what about tools - always use the right tool for the job)

BTW - nice looking box. Oh, and why do you think it's not what you expected? Aren't you pumping all the bass energy into the "cabin"?

The biggest problem with bass in a cab is when you drop the top. My car hammers with the top up, but looses huge amounts of bass when I put the top down. I would think Luke is finding the same problem. I dont doubt it hits in the shop and sitting still, but on the road, looses alot. I took the entire system out of my Yukon and put in my E30 Cab and my truck could hit 135 easy. It sounds totally different in the car.

I couldn't see the part # in the pic or I would have done the same. Appreciate it though. And I appreciate Luke saying I should be looking for something better.

Any chance of seeing pics of the trunk? The biggest thing I ever put in my trunk is my hockey goalie leg pads, no prayer of fitting my bag in there so I throw that in the back seat. Maybe I'd buy the prototype box off you, let me know if that'd be possible.

As for cutting the holes if you got them where you wanted em I think it'd be a good idea to make a big thin paper template that the customer could drape over the seatback and hold up inside the trunk and trace around where the hole should go.

Anyways, looking forward to seeing what happens. Big plans for the vert in the next month or so, hopefully a custom rollbar, S52 and maybe a system. Oh and painted hardtop in the works too....gonna be fun

Well, no pics of the box in the trunk because it is not finished. At this point, just imagine a box that is 14.5" in depth (front to back of car) that fills the area under the top.

This box hits about the same top up or down, that was the #1 criteria, and the main reason I did bandpass.

And yes, there will be paper templates that ship with whatever I end up with.

George, nibblers (of which I have broken several of over the years) just don't work well for installing. First, the HUGE amount of debris left behind sucks, any magnets get tons of shit stuck to them AND they work very poorly on any kind of corrugation.

In this cars' case, there was Dynamat Extreme installed too, so giant gooey mess too.

I cut the trunk holes using an airsaw. Broke 4 snap-on blades in just minutes..and I don't generally break blades.

Inside the car, tinsnips it was. Took me about 3 hours just to cut those 2 holes. I might have done it in an hour when I was young, but I grew up using tinsnips, and mine are SnapOn "Aviation" style snips, the absolute best I have ever found.
