Yeah it will cover the whole back of the trunk left to right, and fit to the shape of the side panels. I think I will mount the amp recessed into that panel, or on the one of the sides. I won't really know until I have the amp in my hands and can play with it. As of now I don't have any dimensions of it so..

Thats my intention. I wont know what I can and cant do until I get the equipment on monday. As said I dont know how large the amp actually is.

Also with the port, a rectangular port = less port noise = cleaner sound. Not sure if you're worried about that or not but just a tip.

Port noise is influenced by the start of the port (where internal volume stops and port area begins). As long as it is filed, then sanded smooth, you don't really have to worry about port noise. Aeroports are made to do just that, have a smooth transition into the port so there is less noise. Slot ports actually make MORE noise because they are not flared.

Call me ignorant but what is an aeroport besides where you land aeroplanes? No joke I don't know.

All you have to do to have a flare on a "slot" is to use a router with a round over bit.

Rectangular ports are also better (if made with mdf) because they don't resonate like a thin walled plastic port WILL. Again = cleaner sound. There is a reason why NO Pro Audio sub enclosure uses plastic (or round) ports.
But hey, whatever floats your boat, you don't have to take my word for it, I just went to Pro Audio school for this stuff.

I actually use slot prts, since it's easier to get more space out of em. I'm just pointing out the advantages that an aeroport has, I haven't seen too many people who don't know alot about car audio building their first ported box have it turn out perfect... prebought aeroports make it easier on the people who need help (the ones asking questions) :P

I use Autodesk Inventor to do all my prototyping.

I see what you're saying (now), and yes the aeroports are good for someone who isn't all that skilled yet at wood working or enclosure designing. But from the pics I've seen of Jordan's stuff, he knows how to use a router, and if he isn't sure on calculating out the rectangular port I can help out with that. (That is, if you decide to go that route Jordan)

I havent used a router for anything yet. The baffle shaping is strictly hand work. I like to keep power tool use to a minimum.

My friend who has been doing pro audio car installs for 24+ years will be building my box with me at the shop he works at on monday. It will NOT be using square ports.

I was under the impression you were doing the work, that's cool you have someone to help you out. (by the way Pro Audio and car audio are different fields of work :P, at least I hope he's not putting PA equipment into cars )

Luke will be making the box, and tuning it properly. I will be doing all the fiberglass work, and all the finishing work. Making all the false panels for the trunk etc.

Functionally the box should be done monday, and the baffle done mid week. Painted and pretty? Most likely not for a couple weeks as I am leaving for vacation next weekend.

Alright, so I spent most of the day preparing the trunk, tearing things out, running all the hidden wires etc. That is all done now *wipes sweat from brow*

I also spent some time on box design, and I think I have a final design. Here is a shot of the finished box in Inventor.

I'm gonna put the amp up against the carpet on the drivers side in that recess, and build a flush mount rack for it.
