Anyone put subs in the rear deck?

I'm curious, has anyone managed to fit some small subs (8" i guess) in the rear deck lid of an E36, a la the e36 stealthbox? Might be a good way to get a little bass without a traditional box.

It can be done. However most people are unwilling to lose the springs that hold up their trunk in order to fit the speakers.

I for one think 8's built into a custom rear tray would be tight. of course there would be a mid woofers and tweets built in too.

It wouldnt be that great of a loss for the springs...
given the hinge assembly in the trunk, mounting and fabricating a pnuematic arm to hold the trunk up isnt that difficult.

When I say pnuematic, i mean like a hood shock.

or a trunk shock from another vehicle would work just as well.

            Sold it.

ive seen it done. on an E36 M3. the bad thing is that the rear parcel shelf adds strength to the body. so, you loose alil. my other friend had four 8" back there in his 96 civic.
