Long Beach DVD35 is discontinued but seems like the deck for me. ipod out and option of playing music off DVD's. Anyone have any experience with this deck? I don't really plan on getting a screen to watch movies or anything i just like the idea of burning gigs of music onto one cd.

I like my blaupunkt head unit - it's an older CD-MP3 player, but it's fast (almost no gap between songs), plays just about anything and it takes a hell of a lot to make it skip. Audio quality is good enough for me - it's driving my stock premium BMW speakers.
quality could be better though - I don't know how much different the newer ones are, but the loading mechanism on mine isn't fantastic. I've had two, and they both had issues with it - it still works, but it's pretty finicky especially when it's cold out. fortunately with how much music fits onto a disk, i rarely have to swap them out anyway.

Have you considered a HU with a USB port?
I just installed my new HU and it's great. I have a 8 GB USB stick on my key ring and my USB cord from the back of my HU is long enough to reach the USB stick while the keys are in the ignition. I route the USB cord thru the gap under the HVAC controls.
I sort my music in folders and can sort thru them and play them and the best part is no skipping or failure to play due to a fingerprint on the CD/DVD and the USB thumbdrives are more durable and will even survive a cycle in the washing machine.
And they are much smaller then CD's/DVD's
You can also plug an iPod and other MP3 players into the USB, and depending on the HU, control the MP3 player with the HUsigpic
