I had a Blaupunkt Honolulu in my M3 that went pretty well with the interior orange, and was otherwise flat black, but if you really want a decent head unit with a factory look, the only thing I would consider is a CD43, BMW Business CD, from the Z3 and a few other cars.

You can pick one up for around $400 last time I checked

    Brand New $699: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgu...%3Den%26sa%3DN

And pretty sure you can still pick one up at the dealer if you want.

Well, posterity, you will never know what it cost us to preserve your freedom. I only hope that you will make a good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in heaven that I ever took half the pains to preserve it.

Problem with the CD43 is that it does not play MP3 files, otherwise I would have one in my car.

If I could find a classic looking head unit that plays SD cards I'd be all over it.

I picked up the Honolulu for $99 on Ebay...it was a reman and it worked flawlessly for me. As I said, the orange is an almost perfect match, you can disable the dancing screen crap, and the only off-looking part is the blue mute dot (Blaupunkt) at the center of the volume knob. the face flips down for the CD changer, but fortunately it doesn't stick out very far like alot of HUs do...

Eh, doesn't look the slightest bit period correct and that "Premier" name label looks like a Wal-Mart off-brand. Not my cup of tea.

^ There you go, this man knows period-correct.

Sound quality/functionality will always < old school period-correctness.
