Didn't know where to post this since it looks like your pm box is full... Box came in today. This thing is freakin awesome. Great craftsmanship! And you weren't kidding when you said that woofer was beefy. I literally hurt my hand when i accidentally set the thing down on it. 500watts to that monster in this box and I am seriously afraid for my rear window.

Go out to your car with a tape measure. Place it against the rear seat brace, go 12" back from there.

And yeah, more boxes will have to wait for a while. I am having a hell of a time getting out of my shop and moved up to Seattle.

A single 10 version will be available then (like January or some shit, who fucking knows!) too.

by rear brace do you mean the top of the seatback, or the middle, or the bottom? thanks. :) what is the internal volume of the completed box, and could you make a sealed version instead of ported? thanks.

what about internal volume? I have a 12" Alpine type S sub with Qts of .6. Would that work? I am beginning to be convinced about the ported idea after reading some of your earlier posts i found via searching. pls be patient as im a newbie as far as e30s go. My car still has the steel punch-out panel behind the fold-down armrest in back, do i hammer that out from inside the car or via the trunk?

My other option is some Infinity reference 10s that i was thinking of firing through the seatback itself, after cutting some holes in the metal behind the seat. OR i could just use a singe 10 in the passthrough, but that would be a waste of a decent 12", wouldnt you say? edit: the 10s have Qts of .45..

IMO, all of the woofers you are talking about work best sealed...but like you posted, about double the "recommended" spec.

The bitch with building a sealed box for the seatback type of install in an E30 is that the box basically needs to be 15" tall.

With that being the case, unless you make the box narrowrer than the space between the shock towers, you won't have enough depth to fit a 12" in there....too shallow.

The last one I built sealed (which the customer returned because it was not "punchy" enough) had a "step" outward on the back, where I nestled 2 amps.

If you built about 28" wide (the space is 36") you would be about 3.5" depth at the top and about 9.5" at the bottom, off the top of my head. That should give you depth to fir a type S, or even a type R.

Crap well I've obviously messed something up here. The Passenger side lines up fine, but the driver side is about a half inch off. Do measure the same for both holes?

How much space should be between the holes? Mine are 2.75" apart. I measured just like instructed, and it appears that if I went over a half inch with the drivers side hole the bass port would be against the support brace. How much space should be between the holes on your box?
