I thought my IDMAX was pretty impressive.
I'm in no way doing this to win an IASCA competition, and I always liked image dynamics products. I like how they aren't audiobahn... I mean that they use a stamped steel basket and paper woofer. money is spent in the right places.
I'm planning on running this amp that woofersetc has on sale
1000 watt JL audio and stable down to 1 ohm.
I believe it's JL's cheep line, but i don't think (i may be wrong since i've been out of car audio for a few years) JL has flushed it's name down the shitter yet like MTX and RF have. And please remember, i'm putting this in my $500 318 wagon beater that has had NO stereo in it for the past year!
the deck will be an older alpine w/ the Ipod box adapter thinge (slow as shit to read, but in the toolbox of extra parts) and some focal utopia components i pulled out of a junk yard... if they work....
so back to my desire to run a 15!
if i run a ported enclosure, that will make the base more likely to be muddy correct (assuming i don't get the box design perfect... i haven't made a box in 4 years)????
with a sealed box, the speaker will have more backpressure so to say and should be "tighter"
remember, not trying to compete in IASCA, just wanting to re-educate myself in the car audio world that i had forgotten i loved!
