Those door pods on Jordan's car look great. It looks much better than having the speaker sit in the middle of the door. Are those pods custom made or commercially available?

He made them himself out of MDF. Basically just rings stack on top of each other, covered in vinyl.

        Crikey.

I would rather deal with mids and tweeters that are not equidistant from my ears and 'settle' for weak midbass from a 5.25 than have to ride with some of the mounts and/or locations of some of the drivers in this thread.

        Wowsers.

audio is tough in e30's. Ignore lukes car his is downright ridiculous, but for him sq is most important so he can deal with what he has setup in there. Most of us are just looking for some midbass and are doing what is required to get the best out of what we are given.

There are some decent 5.25" drivers which I bet could go into the kick panel...

oh yeah no doubt, but getting decent midbass out of that location is the biggest problem with the e30 as a sound platform. Its all about how much you care about sound.

I have two art series amps for my system. i have a 4200am for the components and a a300.2 for the sub. I have a Alping glide touch h/u and i do not believe it has a built in sub low pass crossover. Should i run a pair of fmods at like 150hz lp and get some fmods for the component amp and run them hp at around 120hz? Thoughts?

CDA 9855? Don't give us "glide touch" bullshit, only model numbers count if you want good advice!

What is the model number on your Alpine head unit? The only glide touch head unit they made (what a piece of crap the glide touch was-I can say that because I have one myself) was the CDA-9855, which most certainly has a sub crossover.

                      High pass too, don't forget.

But no, that was not the only "glide touch" bullshit Alpine ever had, but the only one in the last 15 years. There were several in the early 90's.

The Glidetouch is crap but the 9855 will do 3-way active.

It is a 9855 but i ve gotten used to the glide touch bull...and it looks way better than the cd5000 i used to have. So i guess i don't need any fmods if i can control everything from the head unit then...What do you guys think of my system while were at it.

                          What i have:
                          CDA-9855 ofcourse
CDT Hd-62 components with Jl xr crossovers (tweeters in factory premium location, Fiberglass door pods)
                          PPI 4200am
                          PPI a300.2
MDF for a luke style box

                          Need :
                          Subwoofer, thinking of http://www.woofersetc.com/p4992/ID10...Subwoofers.htm

                          Thoughts....

As hard as it is to find a decent 4 omh SVC woofer, that one is not a bad choice.

I just wish they had better power handling!

I have audiobahn 3 way 6.5"s in the stock location, pioneer 6X9's in the back deck. 2 amps, just awaiting these Kicker comps from a friend then see about a box to fit.
With the audiobahns I had to space out the hood release lever and the glove box doesn't open all the way but good all around sound.
Luke you ever seen someone make a box that puts an 8 in the back cards on a coupe?? I have the demensions and pics that i got off of BMWe30.net years back.

Yeah, I have been playing around with that idea. There is a guy on here that was published WAY back in like 1990ish that had 10s in those sides. I have been thinking about doing a set of 10's, but find a way to make them ported...just to piss away about 70 hours or so...
