I am gonna aim for about 1.4 cubic feet per side...this means making a fiberglass mold of the side panels, inside the car, then making a MDF mounting ring for the woofer and making an MDF frame, attaching them to the mold, the stretching fleece over the whole mess...then fiberglassing that.

If someone came to me asking to do that job, it would easily be $1200 in labor, plus materials ($200, easy) and I keep the car for 2 or 3 weeks.

      MAJOR fucking PITA.

Does anybody know the depth of the speakers being used in the door panels?

How much room is in there? It would be nice to find out without having to remove my panels so I can go out and buy some speakers. Also, would it be wise to delete the lower speaker all together? Or should I run 6 speakers?

I have been thinking about doing a setup recently like stereoinstallers setup except moulded into the glove box face and the drivers underdash panel. Would the metal flexi duscing for dryers work for this install or would it flexx to much for the 6.5?

not by itself, too much flex and rattles. if we are thinking of the same thing.
it can be the "skeleton, but will need fiberglass reinforcement. why not big PVC pipe with an MDF mounted to the face for attaching the spkr?

Now can i fit a 6.5 where the stock speakers are and not move it up to the door card? Is there really a big difference between 5.25 and 6.5 ?

                Depends...Depends...

This is a question that has so many possible answers.

We gotta know more info about:
                budget
                equipment already purchased
                looking to purchase
                sub?
                single amp/multi amp?
                wanna do some modding?
                Etc.

My 02 cents... which is worth exactly that.

Go with a nice 2 way 5.25/tweet, utilizing passive xover.

Install in factory locations (kick panel - midbass/sail panel - tweet)

                Buy a 10" box from Luke (StereoInstaller1)
Buy an Exile 10XT (10" sub - very musical, good SQ)

Buy a 4 channel amp. Run fronts on 2 ch, and bridge the sub on the other 2.

                And Misc wires, etc.

For well under a grand you'll have something that wont take much to install and will sound quite good

                    6.5 spkrs

I put some 6.5's in the kicks. Sounded great with a Microsub box holding 3 JL 8w6's. Since I sold the car maybe I can get those kicks in the door for better sound since I kept the set up and am working on my door panels.

That has an Fs of 171Hz and an expected response down to 160Hz or so...in other words, that is a fantasdtic speaker, but would be an absolutely miserable choice for this application.
