My stereo install in the 300$ 318

Well, I got the car off the stands, and able to drive, so I guess it needs a stereo.

    It's a 12" MTX Woofer in a spec box.
    MTX X300DP single channel amp
    Panasonic HU (It was free)
    No name Capacitor
All stock speakers with tweeters wired as well (sounds amazing)

Overall the system pumps. I can shake my head if I crank it.

For the 250$ I spent on the amp sub cap and box it sounds pretty good.

Sam, why 3 wires off of the positive side of the cap?

It's 2, it looks like that, but that wire on the bottom actually goes to the ground lol. I knew someone would say that.

Look closely you can see the connector facing backwards on the ground.

OK, I see...now why the hell do you have a ground there? I see what looks to be a decent 4ga ground wire, where do you have that going?

Though the tray to the chassis ground.

Is it wired wrong, should be it in series?

Hmmmm...well, lets just say I have seen neater installs.

Spend some time, make your install as tidy as mine:

It's a car that will see track time. It needs to come out easily. Which is why the amp is attached to the box.

Dumb idea, man...get that amp mounted to the car!

The extra 3 or 4 pounds won't make any difference at all, and it will prevent any chance of damage from the wires being yanked or whatever.

Leave your sub loose if you must, but mount that amp.

That box isn't going anywhere, it's wedged against the top of the trunk.

Trust, I have to put a lot of weight into it to actually get it out.

What are you going to do with the loose wires when you get to tech inspection?

                          Um...nothing?

Our tech inspections aren't super anal.

But I might actually make them neater today since it's nice out.

When you take the amp out, you are going to have a few feet of live wire swinging around the trunk. I don't even think an autox inspection would let that fly...

It looks like you'll need remove the cap and tray as well, so I guess you can just remove the connector from the battery before every event.

I'll take the wire off at the amp, not the box.

I just re arraged it and mounted the amp to the floor of the trunk and attached the wires. I'll get a pic.
