I've had no issues controlling it, its much easier than using the ipod, as in its easier to control while driving then having to fiddle with a touch screen. The only downside to it is the limited screen space on the 200, which would be eliminated with the 100 as it has a full colour lcd displayComment

I have 001 (1st gen LCD). I hate lugging around CDs and i wanted to be able to just leave my car withiut having to disconnect my ipod and hide it every time park my car (ipod is in the glovebox) Pros include it can run two ipods, its hard drive compatible so you can save some money by just getting a 100gb portable hard drive, It shows the album art and search functions are very quick with the USB connection, you can turn off the internal amp to boost RCA output, you can download wallpaper from alpines website. Cons include lack of EQ adjustability, remote control sold separately, bluetooth addition is expensive, you can not create your own wallpaper, and price.
A cheaper alternative would be the Clarion FB275BT. Its only $120 and you have the option of 728 colors.

This is what I bought not too long ago. Blaupunkt Brisbane digital media reciever. Its similar to the Alpine headunit but less expensive and less, flashy IMO. Plus it looks amazing if you like that "ol school" feel to your dash and the lighting options are infinite.
*it also uses the ipod to control the songs, which is what i wantedsigpicComment

You'd think they may make the screen bigger seeing as how it's a pain in the ass to search through iPod's on small screens. My brother has a new alpine and it's a bitch to search.Yeah, this is the "no deck" deck...and yet, the damn retards at Alpine made it the same size as a normal deck.
There are only 2 models shown in the catalog, the IDA-X100 and 200. Not much difference between them except the display and Bluetooth.
Alpine expected you to buy a "Vehicle Hub Pro" to use as a remote. Typical, $500 for something that should have been included!
Alpine product is great, but Alpine as a company sucks balls.1985 325e 2.8 Turbo VEMSComment
