    Keyless entry problem

I got around to installing the Omega Research keyless entry I got for Christmas today.

I followed the DIY that was in the stickied thread in R3V's Car Audio section, but for some reason it isn't working and I have no clue what's wrong.
I connected the wires color to color how it was specified in the DIY, until I was left with one RED wire on the keyless and a BLUE and WHITE wires on the car. I connected the RED wire to the WHITE wire. Should I have connected the wire to the BLUE one instead?

I tried pushing the Transmittor Programming button, and it is supposed to light up, but nothing is happening...
I'm at a loss at what to do, it's not a hard install so I don't know what I could've fuxord up.

    Any ideas?

    No no.

You need to connect the red wire to the antenna red wire.

Why the fuck didn't you install the keyless entry up front? All the wires are up there and it is less wet.

Did you use relays for LOCK/UNLOCK? This is crucial for electrical stability.

All the DIY I read said that you could do it in the trunk no problem, the only advantage to doing it in the driver side kick panel would be the ability to wire the keyless to blink lights and beep the horn when unlocked/locked.

Sounds like you have not read a bit of what have said on the subject.

E30s tend to have wet trunks. E30 wiring is 20 years old, and not all that stable. Using the wire that runs the power antenna is just barely adequate, IMO, and just exactly where are you going to find a decent ignition source in the trunk?

The other thing to consider is the length of wire you are using to trigger the central locking module...that is a hell of a bunch of stress for little surface mount transistors to swing. Relays negate that issue, but none of the writeups seem to think them necessary...until I get a PM asking me how to fix the damn thing AFTER it screws up.

Something like an amplifier is OK in the trunk, it is far burlier of a circuit board, far more robust construction. Alarms (or keyless modules) are very cheesy circuit boards in general, and those Omega units are obviously very cheap (don't feel bad, all alarms are crap, some just suck less than others).

The crap that I see done in stereo/alarm writeups would get your ass fired in a heartbeat in any professional shop. Ask DashboardMonkey (Andy) who worked for me for over a year.

You guys can do as you please, it ain't my fucking car...but seriously, is it that hard to do it right?
