    sub in a cab

Now im not positive on this but i just want to double check. Do all e30s have 2 peices of sheet metal seprating the back seat and the trunk or is it only cabrio e30s? Because when my trunk is open my sub is blasting and sounds good, but when im in the car and the trunk is closed(top up), its not at as loud as i wanted it to be.

Here is a crappy pic of my car w/o the back seet

and heres a pic of my trunk. My sub is now accually facing the seat, not facing the rear bumper now

Cabrios are gay like that. Get used to it, or lose the rear seat in favor of a sub box.

      Carbios are gay PERIOD.

He he he, just kidding, I just don't like them that much. The opening was there, so I went for it.

Bass is a tricky thing in a convertible car, it's tough to get it to sound good, since you lose just about all of it.

could i maybe perhaps cut the 2 peices of sheet metal a bit, without risking any kind of sturcture problems? like maybe a 1ft by 1ft hole right in front of the the sub?

When I had my cabrio I cut two 8*8 holes on the left and right side of the panels. Both walls obviously.I had 2 12" MTX 8000 and bass was pretty nice top up.Top down it was okay at best...couldnt feel it much with the top down.So you lose a lot of it as others stated.Turn your sub the other way around, move to rear, and get a second one.The trunk is useless anyways.

I am currently building a bandpass box for my cabrio. I got the idea from a green iC on www.e30.de. The port on the box is directed through the two steel plates just behind the rear seat and the subs are facing cone upwards. I am using 2 12" MB Quart subs powered by a 1600 watt Power Acoustik amp.
