CM5908 causing crackling on the passenger speakers

So I ust reinstalled the original head unit and was going good for a while with no issues. About a week goes by and one night when driving it starts crackling. Since this has happened, it has periodically worked, however the crackling always comes back.

Ive tried to electric cleaner on the power knob, I know all my wiring is good. Is this a capacitor issue?

Update: I took the head unit out and swapped the left side wires with the right, and the left was crackling, leaves me to believe that it is the head unit.

some side notes that may or may not be related: the amp isn’t in the trunk, idk where it is or if I even have one. Also, since it’s a 84 I have the in dash fader, if that could be causing any problems.

Does the noise crack with the volume knob? That is a very common issue. We can disassemble the radio and refurbish the volume to get rid of this problem. If the problem occurs without touching the volume knob, it can still be the volume knob or a failed amp section of radio or simply a failing speaker. If a speaker were to start to fail, it can cause your radios amp to generate noise or fail in several different ways. These are normal issues for using any 30 year old equipment, speakers or speaker wire.

It doesn’t crack at all when off, when the code screen is on it cracks very quietly, when I type the code it if I have the volume knob just a hair turned up it’s still quiet, but as soon as I go to turn it up even a little more it gets loud.

I tried the old electrical cleaner trick with no success

Yeah, that sounds like a typical failing volume control knob. Spraying electronics cleaner on the outside of the knob will do nothing except possibility stain the plastic and your center console. The radio must be completely disassembled, volume knob potentiometer refurbished, and reassembled.

How difficult is it to do that? And what do you mean exactly by refresh? Is there any information on this available?
