Recently, I had one where the contact for the safety switch broke off when I tried to resurface it. Now the switch stays open and the fan only works on full speed. As a quick fix, I soldered this switch closed but obviously this isn't ideal. The switch opens if there is too much heat, however, I've never experienced this condition where the safety switch opens due to overheating which makes me think this isn't really a cause for concern. Anyone have any experience with the fan overheating ? These are available new for $25 so I may just replace it at some point.
