Painting E30 hardtop

Here's a picture of mine currently with the vinyl on.. I think it would look much better body color. I have experience with fiberglassing surfboards so I believe I could take this task

Imo painted hard tops look horrible.

No, I bought this in corpus. I saw the one in Austin and contacted the seller but he did not respond.

Cool, theres about 3-5 ppl that go to utb that have e30s im sure that you've meet by now. Im still in hs there =/. Im guessing your fairly new to e30s?

I have only seen one other and its a 318. Fairly new to e30's but not BMWs. Glad to know there are some people down here interested!

So is this the proper procedure? Correct me if I'm wrong,
1. Take rails off,
2. Take vinyl off,
3. Sand off glue/sand
4, Tape off and pull back rubbers
5. Use Filler ( would bondo body fill work?) ( how heavy would this be?)
6.Smooth out everything
7. Prime and Paint. ( about how much paint?)

I believe I am going to attempt it :D I will take my time on it! Any problems you came across besides leveling?

wait till u go to peel it. <.< 6 hours of hell. then 5 hours of sanding
