I totally agree! ive used 325ic.com for most of the information ive gathered and some from a few post here on r3v but it would be much nicer to have a dedicated section on verts.Comment

I agree with this gentleman... as my cabrio is third car,,, but in summer it is always number 1
i do not drive it in rain ,, except it starts to rain when i am driving,,, and i have had the car for close to 11 years,,, in this ownership i am sure that more than 90% of the time the top is down,,,,, i love it,, and i have spent more money then i do really want to know
i painted the car ,, in 2006,, rebuilt the M20B25,,,,,,, and then decided to go IL6 BIGBLOCK
and bought a S38B38,, + compete E30 M3 5lug wheel conversion,,,
the car was extremely quick,, and draw a lot of attention when the bonnet was open,,
used ALPHA-N and drove the car for 6 years,,, then some day after some experimental
with airflow tests.. i melted the engine,, and went MEGA bigblock,,,,,, V12 6g
hell of an engine and everything included,,,
but to end this Offtopic story ,, my conclusion is that the oem M20B25 325 E30 convertible is more than enough,, for the chassis,,
it is certainly,, a cruiser... nothing else.. and these 170 ponies are full capable to sprint the car close to topspeed with the top down,,,,,,,,,, i did that MANY times on German Autobahns,,, 225 km or 140mph......... and LOTS of airconditoning
the E30 convertible draws a huge attention everywhere you go,, the lines and shape of the car ,, really gets in to the eyes of people ,,,,,,
still to day the E30 is a car that will remain so cool that very few cars from this decades comes close,,,,,Sveinbjörn Hrafnsson

Yes. These things. Though I thrash my vert at the Tail of the Dragon and hold my own with the steel-top e30's so I wouldn't say it's only a cruiser. Just the worst e30 choice for a race car. The guys claim that the chassis flex allows more of my tires to be in contact with the road (jokingly). Lol.I agree with this gentleman... as my cabrio is third car,,, but in summer it is always number 1

I'm trying to revitalize my rubber with that gummi pflege stuff, but I did have to spend $7 on a strip to make the front seal because forget the hundreds they wanted for the real front main seal.
Also bump. Would like to see an ic page happen!

Who owns a full 771 package M-Tech 2 car on the factory suspension? I have some questions about the suspension setup, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Man I wish we had a vert section ;)Drive it hard. Maintain it well.

Bump for vert specific section! I posted in the other thread as well http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=344793Comment

I support adding an ic discussion section, but will note that a lot of the other bits are the same as any E30 and we have sections for those.
This seems like a good crew to ask a value question.
My vert is a 1988, with just over 90k miles. Before me, it was always in one family (grandma, her daughter, then the granddaughter). This also explains why it is Bronzit :)
I've revitalized the mechanicals (engine, suspension, brakes), drivers seat, and now it needs a top.
My gut says that the car is worth $3000 as it sits, and maybe $4500-5000 with a new top. If I'm right, there's no reason to avoid getting the top which is going to run $1400 with straps.
Everything works except a/c (probably too expensive to justify repair), small oil leak I think is the pan which I am going to fix, and a persistent steering rack leak even though it's a ZF rebuilt (leak started after I switched from Pentosin to the ATF it's supposed to have, wondering if that was a mistake).
Anyway - would love to know what you think the values are since I rarely ever see a car with this low miles.1988 325iC SOLD

danix, I purchased my '92 vert last January. Mileage was 86k and it had a 5 speed swap. Car was completely stock, pristine interior and had a brand new top and manual top conversion. I paid well north of your estimated $4.5K - $5K. From what I've seen manual transmission verts and the last couple of model years with plastic bumpers seem to command a premium. Assuming the interior is in good shape (especially top of back seat) and mileage can be documented I would think with a new top $5k would be a pretty good price. If it's a manual possibly even more.Comment

Thanks JwhIII. My car has the triple whammy - automatic, bronzit, and convertible.
Despite that, it gets more attention than any car I've ever owned.
Interior is in very good shape but the top of the back seat does need to be redone.
Miles and maintenance are all documented and everything is as original as possible.
Sounds like I should just do the top - I see beater sedans with 250k miles going for $3000 so I think this one has to be worth a good bit more when I'm ready to sell.1988 325iC SOLD

Not quite sure what the deal is with all the bronzit haters on here. I really like the color myself! My wife drove a bronzit super eta for several years. I was actually debating debating fixing it up as my DD when I came across the vert I ended up buying.
I would definitely get the new top. Even if you decide to get rid of it you shouldn't have too much trouble selling it for at least what you have in it.Comment
