    Hardtop rattle

Just installed my hardtop and I tightened both ends, still rattles on the rear left side. Anyone else have this issue or know a solution?

How tight is it or how hard was it to snug down? You can adjust how tight it sits down on the car. If it's nice and snug on both sides then I don't have an answer for you. But I would imagine the rear left side needs to be adjusted to be tighter.

If you have the tool you can tighten the star wheel with the top installed although I'd recommend backing off the latches first to avoid breaking anything. BMW charges $28 for a silly stamped tool but it works.

Ill check on that! Im assuming this is whats causing my defroster to not come on either. All the leads look clean and straight.

There's a push terminal on the drivers side plastic socket where the top locks down. That's where the top get battery pos so yes, a loose lock down pin can effect the defroster.

There's also a rear blower disable micro switch near the hinge on the drivers side that enables the defroster circuit in the glass. Iirc that connector is similar to a brake pad wear sensor. When I replaced my soft top I neglected to reconnect that since I didn't know it existed.

Thanks for the info, it looks like the height of the nuts on the actual pins were different on the drivers side. I adjusted that with the hardtop unbolted from the body and now it sits tight. Bring on the winter!
