Whoops didn't see this! They say to fold the window fabric over the top fabric, but I didn't like the way it fit on mine so I did the opposite. Then you apply the glue they provide between the two fabrics. All the way around. I put a second layer of silicone on top just in case

also forgot to mention, the clasp piece I was talking about is a bmw part you can find on realoem. I don't think emiata sent me one of those

I don't see a flap on the window so maybe that's an emiata feature. If you have a chance to post a closeup pic of the flap I'd appreciate it.

It's a half inch wide strip of fabric which looks exactly like the top fabric and has been stitched into the perimeter of the window. It is an emiata feature. I'll snap a pic tomorrow

I'm about ready to swap the top on to my barn find and I've been contemplating how to deal with the bent cross bar just over the rear window. I'm sure one of the POS friends jumped on it.

If you look at it in your own Cabrio you will see it actually is held to the top frame by a large screw. Since I have the original frame from the zinnoberot car I thought I was might be lucky enough to just swap them.

Unfortunately, the fabric wrapped around the bar it well bonded and I fear damaging it if I try to remove it. On a brighter side, it does have a zip in window that I plan to replace so with a bit of engineering, I'm planning to straighten it with the window out. I doubt even the largest C clamp will have enough torque to flatten out what amounts to a 3/8-1/2" thick steel bar, but that's the direction I'm heading.

I will def take a closer look at freeing up the fabric.

So I picked up the window the other day and I think the instructions will be more clear when I'm actually looking at my top.

The contact cement they provide seems like a generic "super strong adhesive". If you used it how is it holding and if not what did you use ?

              Thanks

                Whoops! Here's that picture

This is the drivers side of the window, showing how the fabric flaps fit together. As you can see, theere is a strip of fabric sewn in to to the top (stitching on left) and there is a strip of fabric sewn into the new window (stitching on right).

The instructions say to fold the window fabric on top of the top fabric. I did the opposite. It flows better, looks nicer, etc the way I did it. So when you look at my picture, understand it is done the opposite way from what the instructions say. Yours may be different so just check it out yo

emiata sends you a contact cement with the window. I went all around the edge with it. Try not to make a mess since it's hard to clean off and cures yellow. Then I did a generous strip of silicone sealant on top of the cement once it had dried. I thought I bought black but it ended up being clear :)

It's holding fine. I think at first the window leaked around the edges so I went over it again with another layer of silicone. One year later no problems, though it does need a good polish.

Thanks for sharing that. I'm not sure I'll use their glue since I am going to replace & reglue the rear hoop when I do the window. Your comments plus the instructions for aligning the zipper have me ready for some trial and error but I'm sure it will be a great improvement.
