    Hardtop adjustment

I picked up a hardtop for my vert.

I installed it and the driver's side handle turned with a little resistance (felt good) but the passenger side took a lot of effort to lock into place.
Then after driving around for a short while the driver's side locking pin somehow loosened and the top began to rattle.

My theory is that the driver's side is too low, which is not allowing me to turn the pin fully as the seals from the hardtop are too low and can't be pulled down enough when the pin is turned.

    So I have two questions:
    1) What kind of adjustments do I need to make?
    2) What is the process for making these adjustments? - I know that you need to use the weird adjusting nut, but what is the actual process?
(And can I use a wrench instead of the special tool?)

Do you mean the handle above the drivers side loosened or the pin in the back loosened? Send a picture of the back pin it may need to be adjusted

Here is a thread that may help

The handles are tight and seal very well. It is the pin in the back that loosened (only on the driver's side though).

I've read through that thread and didn't find it to be particularly helpful.

Take a look at the passenger side pin and see what the difference is on the drivers side. It may need to be adjusted by turning one of the nuts

I'm holding a pin. The top hex nut controls the locking pin. Release it, then loosen the star nut, preferably with the BMW tool, then turn the lower hex head which will tight the lockdown mechanism, then tighten the star nut to hold the adjustment, then rotate the top hex nut 1/4 to the rear of the car (regardless of which side) to re-engage the locking pins

Also check the plastic "bushing" in the body receptacle. If it's broken the top won't stay tight and they are stupid expensive for what they are. Lastly, if you try to adjust the screw without unlocking the pins and loosening the star nut, you will round the lower hex head and brick your pin. AMHIK
