I've read somewhere (don't know if it was a e36 or a e30 forum) that it does help to have more streamline mirrors as takes away a lot of wind noise

I believe you can put e36 M3 mirrors on e30s with some modifications. I'm not very knowledgeable in the subject but I have heard of it1992 325i Convertible - "project"
