Drivers seat help

Just purchased E30 convertible 1987 Reb/Black and sorting out issues. First is Drivers seat adjuster will NOT adjust reclining mechanism. It will go up and down without issue but when I raise the bar to adjust the tilt I meet a brick wall as if there is nothing. In looking it was welded in the middle on the door side but everything seems to work otherwise with slide adjuster and folding forward for rear access, Passenger seat is perfect. Is there a way to adjust and leave in one position? Fix so it adjusts? Hard to find answers on line. I am assuming the dual spring on both hinges operates the reclining mechanism but there doesn't appear to be a. way to "work" them as the lever does not move upwards after raising and lowering the seat. Any pictures or schematics would be great. Thanks, excited about the car but want to get some of these issues resolved so it is an enjoyable ride, it is beautiful car but needs some minor attention.

Ok looking at diagrams on line I feel like I may am suppose to have a lever in front of the hinge on the door side of the drivers seat to adjust which is GONE! Is this correct?

Re=examined seat and BAM lever handle broken at the hinge.! Source for replacement? Just love answering my own questions!

I probably have a spare lever I can dig out. Will be home in a couple of days.

The seat back release to get the to back seat is separate from the adjustment for seat back angle. Once you get a lever, lifting releases the back and if the strutsnare still good, the seat should move itself forward (with you leaning forward too). Then you lean back til you get it where you want and release the lever. If the seat falls back when you lift let me know as I sell replacement struts for the seats as well as for the deck lid and soft top hinge.
