1987 325 revs to 3000 rpm when I engage the AC button most of the time! Not everytime but has always done it after a few minutes of driving unable to get idle down unless I turn off AC switch. AC off nice idle at 7-800 rpm, turn on AC and in the next 1-2 minutes it will be up around 3000. What is my likely culprit? mechanic wants to find wire that tells ECU to rev up and disconnect but I want it fixed correctly! Ideas? Thanks again.

The fact that the idle changes suggests it's not a wire. I'd borrow another ecu and try that.Seat Shocks....I have passed the baton to John Christy from Ninestitch. Email John or Garrett at ninestitch1@gmail.com

Have you checked your low side AC pressure lately? Mine did all sorts of crazy idling with AC engaged when my Freon pressure was extremely low.
