Hi all pretty sure my seats in my 1990 e30 convertible are original from factory it’s australian delivered but it has leather vertical sports seats same style in rear how do I prove this ?

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but the later models had the horizontal stitching. I think your seats are correct for the time period. My vert has horizontal stitching but it’s a 92

I’m being told on the e30 forum that they only ever came out horizontal only a very few cloth verticle style not sure if the sticker under the rear seat can give more info ?Comment

Those seats have definitely been recovered. I don't believe rears came with vertical stitching or piping. Its a super clean reupholster though, there is no stitching that goes down the middle of the seats.
The front headrest and backing doesn't seem to match the rest of the fronts.Last edited by Mike36; 08-30-2018, 02:55 PM.sigpicComment

In the US late model 318's with vinyl had vertical stitching like hardtops.. not sure what spec your car is but they are most likely correct given AUS typically got 320's and rarely 325i's

again, this stitching is correct for vinyl but convertibles with leather got m3-style seats. The convertible and m3 were both the top of the line for the 3 series believe it or not

Yup all 318i verts have the vertical vinyl interior standard. Rear vertical stitch vert seats are insanely rare.
