    '91 Vert Questions

    Hello! New guy here!

Apologies if this isn't the correct forum space for this. Please move if needed.

I'm looking at buying a '91 E30 Convertible. Some details:

    - Same owner since 2006
    - All services records from that date to present
    - BMW dealer service history from Nov. 1991 thru Mar. 2001
    - Original paint
    - 178,000 miles
    - Wants $5,000

Does this seem like a reasonable price? It seems very well maintained from photos, but this would be my first E30 purchase and am wondering if I'm missing anything.

Any constructive feedback or help is appreciated! Thank you!

At $5000 for a cabrio with that kind of mileage I would want to see as close to perfection as possible ... a working soft top in good condition, nice upholstery, crack-free dash, absolutely no rust anywhere, all electrical items working, no open maintenance items, and a 5-speed :)

    What color is it?

Are there any other options such as hard top, wind screen, upgraded wheels/tires, etc.?

    1989 325iX Coupe - Diamondschwarz / Black Comfort

    1981 Fiat 124 Spider 2000 - Green / Tan
    1998 Volvo V70 GLT - White / Tan
    1998 Volvo S70 T5 manual - White / Taupe

Soft top is electronic and has no leaks, no cracks in upholstery or dash, garage kept, buuuut is not a 5-speed.

Manual conversions are relatively easy but depends on your level of skill to keep costs sensible.

Bodywork is $$$- what is that like?

If the interior and exterior is clean for a 28 year old car, buy it.

E30 maintenance is relatively cheap, especially if you do it yourself.

You can get a full 5 speed swap with quality parts for around 1k. I hate convertibles, but if you really want one, get it.

If it’s all original panels, no rust or serious accident history. Buy it. It’s a steal at that price with today’s market. Also make sure the current owners aren’t pressuring you to buy it, usually a clear indicator that there is something wrong with the car.

                  That looks really nice.
Not a lot of small bumper cabrios out there.
                  $5k seems reasonable.

If you don’t buy that today, at that price, it will be gone by the weekend. That’s a fair price for a clean car if there’s no rust anywhere.

If you really plan to keep this car fresh you’ll need another $1,000 for general stuff like exhaust, rubber bushings/seals, all fluids and filters, and a timing belt service.

                      Great info!

The following was done in December of 2017: Timing belt and tensioner, water pump, water pump pulley, new a/c, p/s and alt belts, radiator replaced, valve adjustment, replaced the oil pan gasket, p/s fluid, diff fluid, trans fluid and engine oil and filter.

Sounds overall like a really good find for the price! :)

Very clean calypsorot! The PNW climate is kind to cars. Much to like there.

Budget $150 to add the Garagistic x-brace to it and you'll have a nice little cruiser to enjoy.

I have a bunch of pieces that would help that convertible a lot. Check my for sale thread.
New seals, X brace, etc. I would give you a pretty good deal for such a clean e30

Nice find! I got mine for $1800 1990 convertible 185k miles. Broken windshield, blown struts, oil leak, but everything was original and owned by a lady since 2000. With all the money Iíve spent getting the engine n tune up. Iím up to $1500 in parts n labor.
