Manual soft top lid won't close all the way

The soft top lid (aka tonneau lid, deck lid, whatever else it's called) on my E30 convertible won't latch shut. It goes all the way down with the soft top under it but when I push down on it it just kind of pops back up a little and doesn't click.

I've looked all over the internet and no one else has ever had this issue before, in fact I'm probably one of the very few on this sub that has a manual soft top. Any suggestions for getting it to latch shut?

Also from looking around I've seen people mention interior levers, switches, buttons for closing the MANUAL soft top? Can anyone confirm?

Sounds like your latch brackets are loose. They are on the front parts of the boot lid compartment, on the sides right next to the rear seat
    I BUY/SELL REFURBISHED CM5907s & CM5908s

They might be... how would one tighten them?

Did you get this fixed? there might be a vertical adjustment on the mounting of the latches and you may not be folding the top correctly. The front bar has to be moved back and the straps tucked in to allow the lid to close properly.

Check to make sure the braided cables that connect the latches to the convertible top deck lid door handle are adjusted properly. There are videos on YouTube. It could be that the latches are in the closed position, which would prevent the decklid from closing and latching properly. If there’s too much slack in those cables, the release latch will not be able to open the latches.

If the braided cables are properly adjusted and you still have the problem, then I would say you would need to do an adjustment on the latches themselves.
