Found some Yakima 1a's w/ 58" crossbars on CL... I assume you can run whatever length crossbars you want, except too-long will look absurd and leave gouges on the side of trailers you pass and you won't be able to fit through garage doors and stuff. Heh. Just wanted to double check though.

    Thanks.
You can run any length of crossbar you want, locally for me atleast the only limiting factor is that it is illegal to have anything on the vehicle that is wider than the mirrors.

If you do have bars that are too long just cut them down, a hacksaw or a sawzall makes quick work of thule or yakima bars.

Any size box will fit on our cars. Its all just a matter of how big is to big.

I have had an 18 cubic foot box on my car and it didnt really look that bad.

I would say the most appropriate size is a 16 cubic or smaller box. It also depends on what you plan to carry.

You need to use the correct clips. It will fit alot better, and be much easier to use.

They are Q30s, you can also modify the clips you have if they are close. Heat them up and bend them to fit.

this is what I have. Yak. model ? I bought it off cl for $30. I'll have to provide better pics later but they are the q towers with a unknown clip

Yakima is the world's leading brand of car racks, including roof racks, bike racks, hitch racks, and many more for all of life's adventures.

as you can see it doesnt use the rain gutters so no scraping of paint or shadowling. Pretty stable although a slight fitment issue on the front rack. it barely closes to be able to be locked.

Pretty stable. Held up find with my cargo box jammed packed full of clothes. I probably exceeded the 100lb limit for the rack on move.

I just got my fairing, and I have no idea how it mounts onto the load bars.
I googled searched, but all the install directions were for the newer model fairings with slightly different parts.

If someone could point me to an install guide for the older fairing, or explain how to mount it, that'd be great.

Alka- we have them in stock, the older one, are relatively cheap. and the new ones are about $30. The main difference is that the newer ones are universal. Where as the older are jsut designed for Thule bars. I could ship either set to you, but you can order them direct from Thule also. P

PM me if you are interested.

Cong- that is a question that I get asked alot. And really the only answer I have are jsut questions for the buyer.

It really comes down to What you plan on doing; what kind of vehicle it is; whether or not you already have equipment from one company.

My preference for E30's is towards the Thule rain gutter mounts. And thats the way it seems to be on this forum also.

They are both lifetime guarantee on all their products, they are priced very similarly, and they pretty much make all the same stuff ( just with diffrent ideas).

So ya.. sorry for being so vague about your question.

Are there any differences with Yakima and Thule racks? Some people I know suggested Yakima over Thule so there must be some pros and cons to both manufacture.
