Did any E30's come with black carpet?

I have seen black carpet in an E30, whether it was stock or not is the question.

The carpet that is in my American E30 is so filthy. I bought it a couple of days ago, and it is trashed. So I plan on shampooing it and dying it.

How does one go about dying carpet, is it easy and will it turn out nicely?

i would like to dye my tan carpet black b/c it is so stained and dirty (Leaky vert is to blame)

Mine's charcoal grey too. I prefer it to just black, because the car would look like a cave if everything were totally black.

Maybe changing the color of some of the leather, like the handbrake boot or the shift boot, maybe adding some chrome accents...maybe reupholstering the seat centers.

I dunno yet.

I thought I would add that the best and easiest way to get black carpet is to dye stock carpet because carpet kits are hard to find for the E30 and they rarely fit well.

How do you "dye" the carpet? I've tried with liquid dye and it just doesn't stay... Any ideas?
