I had a painted on pinstripe. Some detailers recommended "easy off" oven cleaner, I didn't want to use it. But it worked fine, didn't hurt the paint.
You have to let it sit for a few minutes.

His car must have dissolved from all that oven cleaner. I'd like to know as well though, some of my pinstriping is coming off where its more like a sticker but there is some spots on it that it really does look like paint so I dont want to only be able to take half of it off.

The painted pinstripe has worn off in several spots on my e30 like near the door handle where it gets touched alot so the same could be happening to yours. I guess everytime I go to get in the car I will just run my fingers down the length of the pinstripe in hopes of wearing it off.

I would not use the oven cleaner again sorry about the late response. I used it to get the glue off my deck lid when i took my 325 off. I might of left it on to long and i think it went though the clear coat. I would not use it again

you can wet sand the painted pin stripes to get them off. use some water, 1500, then go over with 2000, then polish.
