    Windshield Wipers Troubles

Only one of my windshield wipers is broken. It doesn't move on any of the settings.

    Any help?

Pull the wiper and arm off of the side that's not working. Turn on the wipers...

If the splined shaft is rotating you have a stripped wiper arm. If the shaft is not moving, you have a broken linkage.

So does the wiper arm just pop out?

I haven't taken the wiper arms off of my e30, so I don't know for sure but most cars have a nut at the bottom of the wiper arm. There is usually a small plastic cover that covers only the nut. It just pops off.

Sometimes the nut backs off and all you have to do is tighten it down.

You pull the plastic cover at the base of the arm off. Pry it gently toward the end of the arm. The nut is then exposed. Sometimes the arm is a little stuck so you have to use some force.

If your windshield wipers aren’t operating properly and clearing the glass thoroughly, this could be because they’re bent. That can happen for any number of reasons, although the main one is vandalism. The simplest solution is to try and straighten out the windshield wiper arms when this happens. This won’t always be possible, and even when you do straighten them, they will never be exactly as they were when they left the factory. In the event that you can return them to a satisfactory condition, you’ll need to buy new windshield wiper arms and install them.

So my windshield wipers just stopped working, I was driving with both of them on as fast as they will go (it was pouring) then they both just stopped suddenly. It has been three days and they still dont work, ideas?

Need a little more info....if it works perfectly and just randomly cuts out at times it may be a loose wire
otherwise it could be a broken windshield wiper regulator (located next to your fuses)

Do they sometimes turn on on their own? I was having issues with mine working intermittently and whenever they wanted. Ended up replacing the whole stalk with a used one from a member on here. Fixed the glitch.
