Why did my wasted spark box do this?

I'm running a Blueapplesoda MS with His Wasted Spark system. I finally got the car all put together and had my tuner working on it and while he was dialing in the idle I heard a bubbling noise and then saw smoke coming from under the hood. Looked and found my ignition box smoking and oozing out this grease. My problem is now I have a fried box and an ecu wired for wasted spark. I have looked up the step by step on how to make a new box I just don't want the same thing to happen. Here is a picture to give you an idea

how many coil setup is it?

Its a blue applesoda box it looks similar to this

Can the ign on diyautotune work for a wastedspark setup or do you need to do some modifying?

You probably didn't have the dwell settings adjusted properly. You can destroy coils if you're not driving them properly.

I actually think I figured out that the box was setup for a v6 so where I had the coils plugged into their respective numbers they should have been plugged in according to their firing pattern which is different with inline sixes so that sucks

that won't cause it to break the coils. it would just run really poorly, if at all.

most likely your dwell was way too high.

Yeah the whole system is back with blueapplesoda he is going to investigate whether the actual coils are faulty or not (dwell was set according to the coils stds). He is a really upstanding guy I encourage everyone to do business with him.
