    Oil filter relocation kit install

I bought an oil filter relocation setup off a member a while back. I decided to swap it over on the weekend and I noticed that it isn't going to fit.

both the block and the filter relocation setup have an inner thread:

    Block:

    OEM Housing:

    Relocation Kit:

Relocation kit W/ OEM housing's bolt.

If I put the OEM filter housing's bolt through the aftermarket setup, it could solve the issue, but the bolt is too long.

How could this come off a running car, but not fit? Aliens? ETA block witchcraft?

Another thing I was thinking of is buying a sandwich plate that will hopefully take up the gap, and give me a spot to run pressure/temp sensors?

Someone teach me to filter haus.

Alright, I decided to see how far I could thread the oem bolt into the block. It bottomed out before anything else happened, so I cut ~5mm off the end, and it works now.

We'll see how it seals at the top once its going, the copper seal ring is barely too large to fit inside the space on the new housing, so I may have to go back and take a bit off it later.

You need the adapter that allows you to thread an oil filter directly onto the block. I forget the part number. Some older models came with it from the factory because bmw didn't think an oil cooler was necessary.

Filter sandwiches work great. Just don't use it for a turbo oil feed unless it was designed for it. (Could be broscience, someone back me up)

The piece Jaywood is referring to comes stock on an eta and is commonly referred to as an eta spud by most spec e30 guys.

well if the way I have it doesn't work, I'll give that a shot.

I have my turbo feed coming from the oil pressure switch location by using one of the ebay adapters... sadly the oil pressure switch now is very close to the steering rack, and the connector would definitely not clear. I guess we'll have to revisit that.

What are you doing for a thermostat? I've got a solution if you're interested.

Summit sells an oil filter sandwich with a built in thermostat. http://www.summitracing.com/search/d...tOrder=Default Something in there should work for you if you wanna run an oil cooler.

                    That's pretty cool!

I may have enough room to run something like that under the manifold, hard to tell. I wish the new filter housing i have came with a thermostat built in already.

Any chance these thermostat sandwich plates come in whatever size fits a massive Mobil 1 M1-302 filter? Then I could just slap it on that end of the adapter and not worry about clearance, or where lines are running
