I currently have a stock m20 and was wanting to get more power out of it without a turbo. I am open to any suggestions, what does r3v think?

This has been discussed before, but the basic consensus seems to be that BMW engineers got it right. There isn't a whole lot of power to be freed up in an m20.
bolt-ons might make the car sound and 'feel' better in terms of driving experience, but won't really add anything in terms of power.
A regrind cam, injectors, and tune to match can make some gains you will actually feel. Past that, you're really going to need to break deeper into the engine internals.
It really depends what your budget is, and what your comfort level is.

gut the interior because its free, otherwise you will spend alot of money to get performance from the m20 which is fine if you enjoy tinkering but be aware there is alot better BFYB engines.
to give you some idea on a high mileage m20b25 one member managed about 180whp which necessitated ported head, cam, new exhaust, new intake manifold and tune so thatd be a few grand89 E30 325is Lachs Silber - currently M20B31, M20B33 in the works, stroked to the hilt...

4-5k into the engine should give a nice fully rebuilt 2.8L m2089 E30 325is Lachs Silber - currently M20B31, M20B33 in the works, stroked to the hilt...
