E30 computer question??

Hey everyone, I have a 1987 325e...ish. I say ish because its a mixed up monster of a motor and I need help. I haven't had the car long and I have no idea what to do. The bottom end is the 2.7 L bottom end and a 2.5L top end. Now usually people say, "TURBO THAT THING BRO!" but right now I just want to change the original ECU that was with the original complete 2.7L motor to the 2.5L ECU so I can get my available high end revving. Now, my questions are, can it be done? And where is a good place to get a upgraded and tuned 2.5L ECU? Any info i can get is helpful. Thanks!

Could it be done? Yes of course. Should it? Not really IMHO. If you were doing more than a rev limiter increase then yeah, maybe.

Yes you would get your higher rev limiter however you will need to mess with a bit of wiring for it to swap over.

I'm assuming you have a 027 Bosch ecu (325i is a 173/175 IIRC). For a simple rev limiter raise I suggest just buying a cheap eBay chip with it increased (make sure it's for the correct ecu type). If you wanted to you could do it yourself but it all depends on what you want, expect, and are willing to do

If he has a stock 885 head there is no reason not to do a motronic upgrade since that head will handle b25 revs. Lots of info posted about to do this.
