I used a Aero Turbine AR25 resonator--10" can, 14" overall length. No more rasp (I had a stock 318is resonator and $20 muffler), but now it drones a bit on the highway. Still, I like the tone and volume (deep, quiet).

I might try a larger center muffler eventually to quiet things down further, but then again, it took me 9 months to break down and install a new exhaust.

I used a 14577 offset/offset 2.5" I/O to fit my 318is rear valance, but a 325i rear valance would be served perfectly by a 14586. Get some dual tips and call it a day.

Because I really want to go with a different style muffler now. But I really need something that will actually quiet it down along with my cherrybomb resonator.

it's a tipped muffler, so no, but they do sell plain ones.

... so is the vibrant motorsports muffler a good resonator?

oh right I was thinking of the 14815. it's got great looking tips but yeah, not a good sounding muffler at all. I really want the vibrant motorsports 3" in/dual out muffler, with a magnaflow high-flow cat and a borla XRS as the center muffler.

Um, I meant 14586, which is 2.5" offset in center out. The 14589 is 3" I/O.

The one that people always get on TEH FORUMZZZ and complain about volume is the 14815. The 14815 is only available with a 2.25" single in, and dual out, with a small-ish can, which leads to a rather raucous exhaust tone.

I think he's using a 29" Cherry Bomb as a resonator / center muffler, and another muffler out back ($20 special).

I think one of the ways to quiet it down is to get a bigger can out back, like a Flowmaster SUV series or a Magnaflow 5x11x22 muffler such as the 14589.

a single 2.5" is only slightly larger than the stock 325i exhaust.
