High temp. spray paint is the cheapest and if you prep right, should give you a few months if not more of good quality. I just removed my ETA's exhaust and the headers looked good still. Some fading of the paint is to be expected. Also, high temp. clear over whatever high temp. color you sprayed on helps prolong it's life a bit.

    Ceramic coating is beautiful though...

I bought some of the vht high temp stuff but have yet to use it. It is supposed to be tolerant of temps up to 1500*F but I don't know if it'll hold up if I'm hitting egt's of 1500*F I've got bigger problems than the look of my header.

Don't know if you alreadys tarted painting but this is what I was talking about. http://www.exhaustpaint.com They make them for like wood burning ovens but they say you can use it for exhaust manifolds and mufflers. Supposed to be good up to 1200 degrees.

the trick is curing them properly, sometimes in stages at different temps. READ the lable as to what is to be done for the best results.

I would wait till you could coat them.
Ceramic coating is amazing, man. My headers have lasted 4 years now with only light fading; and when I do oil changes, the headers are touchable in about 5 minutes.

Do it right the first time so you don't have to uninstall and then reinstall.

i read the directions and like all paint jobs it seems to be about the prep

hey parkr i totally agree ...do it right the first time...but my time and budget line are constaining ... i want to drive it now!!! no way am i not going to take it to bimmerfest!!

i just know taking off old paint is way easier than sandblasting old rust...

^ jet-hot coating is probably the best thing ever. although it can get pricey depending on what you do, it's totally worth it. i gotta see the header in person though... it looks awesome.

Doing it right the first time is always the best policy. Ceramic coating works great. I did my stock headers last year with excellent results. You will be very happy after it's done. Pics at:

spoke to the dude at pyrmid plating...they sent their stuff out to jet hot
said they have 2 differant coating ...one is a ceramic and one is a "high temp" good to 2300'.

i tried to make sure im getting the right quote for the 165$ price...cuz i want the thick crinkley stuff...the stuff they had on display was a smooth paint like product. the jet hot site does not really give a good discription of whats what. i ll have to go to it again

i want the right sheet the first time!
