My supersprint is taking a shit

Im happy abou tthe fact I have a supersprint exhaust on the 318, but frankly its starting to take a shit as if a baffle is coming loose in the muffler, and its rattling and buzzing. Do I have to replace the muffler? As some of you may know the SS system has a resonator, and a muffler. keep both? Or just go straight to a turbo muffler, or magnaflow or soemthing. I dont want anything loud, just a deep tone, with zero rasp. well refined sort of thing.

if you don't want a loud, shitty sounding muffler, avoid anything by magnaflow. especially if you have a supersprint, you're going to be really disappointed in the sound change.

borlas and dynomax's both sound pretty good. but what about having your SS repaired? is it rusty or just a bit loose?

I didnt know you could have them repaired? I think a baffle INSIDE the muffle is loose, and rattling. no rust whatsoever.

dunno, probably not, but if it's just a loose weld maybe you could have it tacked back together. seems like a bummer to throw away an otherwise perfectly good SS. :(

thats EXACTLY what I am thinking.

It's really sad, I wish there was something possible to be done, But you'd probably have to open her up or something, maybe Ill keep just the resonater or soemthing.

Is this your opinion towards m42's or m20's as well? And why?

magnaflows are just loud and obnoxious. Plus the ones E30 guys always buy have a tiny 2.25" single inlet. That's effectively smaller than the stock M20B25 exhaust.

My car came with a magnaflow mufler to end off what appears to be an otherwise stock exhaust. It sounds pretty nice if you ask me, maybe a little too "low", it annoyed me a tad at first but now I never notice it.

m42's and m20's sound completely different. Im rocking an m42 here, which pretty much is notorious for being raspy as fuck.

if anyone wants to buy it off me be my guest, but does anyone recommend just axing the rear muffler for a replacement? and just keeping the supersprint resonator?

fwiw I ran a 20" glasspack and magnaflow for awhile, and it wasn't really raspy at all....just loud, hah.

Supersprints are so night though that tossing it just seems like a huge waste...
