    Custom exhaust opinion

can I run headers, into dual 2" cats, with dual 2" tubing to a dual in and out Magnaflow muffler, or is that too much flow?

not too much flow, no. Personally though, I'd do a single 2.5" for less weight and cost.

don't forget an x-pipe. I'm also not a fan of magnaflow mufflers.

I guess Nando doesn't like the tone. The tone sucks if you get the smaller Magnaflow cans, but that's more of an issue with muffler volume than anything else.

I've heard about longevity problems with Magnaflow, but then again, it's a $90 muffler.

Also, you may run into space limitations. The Magnaflow dual in/out, like many American-made mufflers, have the inlets and outlets spaced fairly far apart. If you want to have clean looking dual tips exiting the rear of the car, things are really tight if you get a big muffler. If you get a small muffler, it'll sound horrible.

Making a nice dual pipe exhaust is more difficult than making a nice single pipe exhaust. WAY more fabrication. However, if you're experienced with fab work, then it's not going to be a deal breaker.

ok, cause i am coming from VW's where Magnaflow, and Borla are the best sounding and performing mufflers for them

h pipes don't do a whole lot on a 6cyl though. some equalization of pressure, but no velocity effects.

i know, if i had a deep wallet, i would have a x pipe as recommended, but when i get an h pipe for free, i cant really complain.

turn it 45 degrees and it will be an H-X pipe and half of a V. Did I hear a Niner in there?

sometimes it's not worth using something just because it was free..

yeah I wouldn't worry too much about running dual pipes; one is a much simpler setup the only thing you have to figure out it a y-pipe from the header down tubes which I would google Meg's exhaust (I thinks its coneeng.com) they make a nice y-pipe/2 into 1 collector where the pipes are nice and close together (don't even bother with the magnaflow y-pipe that summit sells; the pipes are acres apart for our cars)
Greg 1987 325is (fairly far from stock at this point)
