Which 2-in 2-out muffler are you running? Suggestions for 2 in 2 out mufflers

I was trying to get a muff cheap during my b25 swap and ended up getting a thrush welded muffler with 3in in and 2-2.5in out. ($25!)I made a collector/Y pipe before the muff and welded it up there. The tips are far apart like Fred was saying but if it is far enough back in the car you can weld some tips out the back to make it look good. As for the sound....it is louder than I thought but not raspy at all. A deep grumble in the lower rpm's and sounds wicked when in the top end. I love it at the track too, now that I can hear my own car I won't "forget" to shift. And most importantly of all, people hear me coming so I haven't had anyone pull out in front of me or change lanes into me on the highway. I would have done this a long time ago if I knew of all the bene's.

Get a muffler with a larger can, and it will not rasp. However, an inexpensive dual/dual universal muffler really doesn't exist.
Universal dual/dual mufflers are made for American cars, which put pipes on the outer edges of the car. For reasons of easy fabrication and the fact that there's plenty of space in the transmission tunnel, the spacing between the pipes on the muffler casing is HUGE, negating any possibility of making them fit and look normal on an E30 rear valance.
Two glasspacks welded side by side will get you the form factor you need, but it will be loud, raspy, and obnoxious.
Your best bet, if you absolutely MUST use the catalytic converter you have, and you need to get things done for less than $300, is to get an Ebay muffler and pay a muffler shop to adapt it to your cat.

that is true, but they're heavy, and expensive.
I don't think a borla sounds "bad" either..

The reason why, IMO, is because no one makes a good sounding single muffler. We're forced to use mufflers meant for circle track cars or 'murrican muscle.
The nice sounding duals (Supersprint and Stromung) are all "tuned" to the tonal characteristics of the car they're meant for.

Well I do have some ground clearance issues with my eta exhaust, and I already bought the cat for two pipes, so...
Who runs a 2-in 2-out muffler and which one is it/how do you like it??

it won't sound any different if there's an X pipe, and there is, in every BMW system.

The performance advantage goes to single pipes, but I tend to like the sound of duals better than singles. Not sure why.

ground clearance/looks/marketing
there's no performance benefit to a dual pipe, unless they're larger than the single pipe. single pipes have higher flow for the same cross sectional area, because there is less surface area on the pipe walls.
