Its not like Magnaflow is a shitty muffler. Theyre actually of great quality. Maybe youre just trying to say that the sound doesnt quite suit your taste?James Peacock

Exactly! I'm tired of people bashing companies like Borla, Magnaflow, Flowmaster, etc because they don't like the noise they put out. Please don't make claims of them being shitty parts just because you can't handle a loud exhaust. IMHO my exhaust I recently sold off was one the best sounding exhausts on a BMW I have ever heard, it was loud but wow did it sound good. No it wasn't some overpriced $600 CATBACK system, It was totally custom made.Comment

maybe you're forgetting that the supersprint systems are dyno tuned for our cars and made of high quality stainless steel that won't rust to peices on you. oh they also fit right into the stock mounting location without rattles or other annoying issues. in the same vein as "don't knock our generic mufflers" maybe it's best that you don't knock SS since you obviously don't have one.Comment

I'm sorry you're so ignorant that you think $600 for this is a good dealOriginally posted by nandomaybe you're forgetting that the supersprint systems are dyno tuned for our cars and made of high quality stainless steel that won't rust to peices on you. oh they also fit right into the stock mounting location without rattles or other annoying issues. in the same vein as "don't knock our generic mufflers" maybe it's best that you don't knock SS since you obviously don't have one.

I must be crazy to consider exhaust being from the header/manifold back, how stupid of me. Apparently in your eyes it's ok to dump that much money on a rear section of ehxaust, it's only half of your exhaust system. Your exhaust only flows as well as it's smallest point. Maybe some day you'll learn.Comment

Most of the E30 SS systems arent made from stainless steel. Only the internals of the mufflers are stainless, the rest is mild steel. My father had a SS system on his 2002 and it rusted out after a little over a year. I'd much rather pay $300 for a custom system than $700 for an overpriced "dyno tuned" cat-back.Originally posted by nandomaybe you're forgetting that the supersprint systems are dyno tuned for our cars and made of high quality stainless steel that won't rust to peices on you. oh they also fit right into the stock mounting location without rattles or other annoying issues. in the same vein as "don't knock our generic mufflers" maybe it's best that you don't knock SS since you obviously don't have one.

[quote my SS is 7 years old, no rust...[/quote]
I've had mine for over two years and it still looks, and sounds as well as the day I bought it. There's NO WAY a Supersprint will rust out in two years unless your car lives in the Pacific or Atlantic ocean, and even then I'll bet it would last at least 1 year. I guess some people think 600 is a lot of money and some people don't, it's now clear who's who. If people are happy with their generic systems great, I'm happy for them, BUT if someone wants to step it up a few notches SS is the way to go.

There are places to be cheap and places to not be cheap.
This would be completely different if I had decided to cheaply fix the pitting in my head. I spend over 600 dollars getting the head rebuilt just to insure that my car wouldn't have any problems running again. This is different situation and I understand that, but I'm just trying to explain that I, as a college student, value a running car over an expensive exhaust system.
Exhaust systems are easy to change and replace unlike a BMW head, and I don't really feel bad about going a cheaper route and getting a generic muffler. I'm not trying to knock the guys with the SuperSprint, but don't play me down because of my financial situation. The BMW 318 is back. With a vengeance.Comment

Says something about the manufacturer though does it not? Would you really think 2002 exhausts would be more prone to rusting than E30 exhausts or something?Originally posted by nandothat 2002 and E30 products are obviously not the same?James Peacock

It's not that we can't afford the $600 for the SS exhaust, it's that we're smart enough not to PAY the $600 for the SS exhaust. As you said about custom amde systems, as long as you're happy with your exhaust, whatever.Originally posted by Mike 91 318icI guess some people think 600 is a lot of money and some people don't, it's now clear who's who.
