New Cat bring performance?

I'm kinda sure it does but I just need to make sure, does replacing your OE cat give better performance and if so by how much? How much does replacing your CAT usually cost. Also whats a good magnaflow to get(need a new exhaust and heard people are happy with magnaflow)

I doubt it will add performance (unless you can find one that has better flow than stock), but you'll gain back the performance lost by running a clogged and rusty cat.

so where do i get a magnaflow? do i go to any muffler shop? should I get the cat and actual muffler from them too?

Pretty much any muffler shop in the world will have Magnaflow in stock.

i used to have straight pipes on my other e30 and it was sooo fucking good except driving on the freeway was really annoying and it would smell

Pretty much all muffler shops stock Magnaflow, most of them usually stock Magnaflow high flow cats too, which is what i would reccomend but they're a little pricey. Just have them do a custom exhaust for you and add in the Magnaflow muffler and cat. As far as which muffler to run, have them reccomend one to you, or show you ones you can pick from. And to Mike 318ic or whatever, you sound like just another stuck up BMW owner. There is nothing wrong with Magnaflow OR having a custom system made

Why do I sound stuck up? All I'm trying to do is lead people in the right direction. I always seem to forget that "a lot" of the members here are broke ass kids that have to learn everything the hard way. So in that case feel free to add obnoxious sounding generic exhaust systems on their E30's most of which are tacky piles of crap anyway. You guys do have a valid point though, why spend 600 on a good cat back when their car is only worth 1-2k and will end up in a ditch anyway.

I agree with Mike completely. I regret doing the unversal magnaflow. If I could go back I would have bought a quality Supersprint exhaust and enjoyed the nice subtle exhaust note.

I agree with Mike completely. I regret doing the unversal magnaflow. If I could go back I would have bought a quality Supersprint exhaust and enjoyed the nice subtle exhaust note.
