this thread sucks, who started it anyways?

anyways, yes i know duals would have looked better, but i couldnt keep the ones i had and the straight through should flow better. this setup should flow much better than the stock system that was on before, those 1.75" pipes were extremely crimped as they bent upward.

and as for the clamps, they will make it easier to replace the muffler when it fails down the line. magnaflow mufflers have lifetime waurantees, and the shop also lifetime waurantees their piping so basically i never have to spend another dime replacing worn out mufflers anymore.

jordan lets not forget you had a gts body kt at one point too. and how is my single tip rice? that doesnt make a bit of sense.

hey man its your car as long as you like how it looks and think it was worth the cash then thats all the matters because honestly...when it comes down to it, its your car so your opinion is the only one that matters not some dudes opinions from and online forum that think there cars are all high and mighty because they have rediculous amounts of cash to pour into them and not have to worry about a damn thing

so again i say as long as you like it thats all that matters ;)

Yeah, I did. I had it long enough to mount it on the car, take one look at it, realized it was horrid, remove it, and sell it.

I would have to agree that the clamps should go but I also think it looks pretty good. Duals would look better but it works and its functional. A couple small bends like that wont effect performance much if at all. The real problem is the system is still choked from the resonator and piping that is original.

The stock dual piping flows very well.

Yes if your keeping it stock.

There's barely an M20 NA out there that can benefit from aftermarket piping.

And in any case, the point is your piping is hacked. A stock system would make more power, judging from the looks of it.

I hope your not tuning peoples cars for them. The stock system gets plugged at the cat and at the resonator minimum. If your going full NA, You better believe the person will change the exhaust to a straight through with a slightly bigger diameter (overall).

You are totally guessing that a stock exhaust will flow better. He's increased the diameter of the pipe and added a very small restriction in the 2 bends to the muffler.
His exhaust is a bit hacked but not everyone has $600.00+ to get a full system. I say remove the clamps and have it welded on. That muffler will last for a number of years.

Jegs.com has a bunch of different mandrel bends, u should have pick a few of those up for $17. i don't think u would need that big of a magnaflow can either however magnaflow can's are very good quality, I personally would have had everything welded up instead of the U-clams and I would have used the magnaflow dual stainless rolled tips off of the magnaflow website. I also woudl have gotten the magnaflow y-pipe for real cheap. I also probably would have ditched majority of the stock system but thats me. anyways it was a nice first try at it, hope u like it. try not to listen to to much of the negative input. to each his own.

You just said you'd have done basically nothing the same way he did it.

no, he didn't use magnafow Y pipe, also he just did a cat back... im talkinga bout the entire system down the entire length of the car. not just catback. the majority of gains are in the headers and midpipe. cat back does not do that much unless its apart of a whole new system.

His engine is basically stock anyways so a full custom exhaust would soley be for sound/weight savings, there are barely any gains to be made on a stock engine.

bingo. i only did it because the stock muffler rotted.

                                Jordan...
for the record you're wrong about the "crush bends" on the piping... those are mandrel bends, just not great ones.

Also... I work at a very respectable german car shop with a total of over 100 years experience between the mechanics. We sponser BMW clubs and track events, etc. Point being... all of us that work at the shop would consider your car as "ricey" as the black one pictured in this post.

We would also consider you a know-it-all prick for the cocky replys you make on this forum. Whether you are or not, you come across as a complete jackass. thanks.
