Another "have you tried these (different) headers?" thread...

how tight is the oil filter to the headers? it looks like a pretty tight fit to changed the oil filter. -
it's "OK" but I'd rather have one than not.
best place to add a bung would be after a X/Y merge so it reads from both banks. You can use a 525i O2 sensor, same thing with a longer cable.Leave a comment:

i really got lucky with the fitment....didnt have any problems. they hang slightly lower than the rest of the car...put it looks higher than the oil pan. i dont have a skid plate installedLeave a comment:

im installing the ebay headers you posted at the moment on my '90 325i. i didnt have too much problem with fitment at all, pretty straight forward. its a tight fit but everything looks pretty good. im doing straight pipe true dual exhaust...i will post sound clips when its finished. looks pretty cool at the moment. does anyone know if its ok to run the car with no 02 sensor?Leave a comment:

Since I custom made the rest of the exhaust, I bought an O2 bung online, drilled a hole in the exhaust just after the header and welded the bung on.
Sure, I can try to do that. With my winter wheels and snow tires (14") the car is even lower than normal and I measured only 3" of ground clearance between the header outlets and the ground. The lollipops are about 3.5" IIRC. However, the roads are pretty rough and bumpy around here and I haven't scraped them yet. Last night I even went over two speed bumps that I was sure would scrape and it didn't.
To everyone else, I'm going to try to give a write up and pics of the install process this weekend. Just have to rebuild my front calipers, too... lol.Leave a comment:

Pictures of ground clearance with these on the car too. I want to see how far they hang down.Leave a comment:

I wonder how these compare?

Interesting that it's got a solid flange across all 6.
i am very interested in if these are good or not as well!!Leave a comment:

Cool, glad to help, I've been following your auto-x thread closely. Only had the E30 to 3 auto-xs since I bought it and then rebuilt the drivetrain last summer, but I've done a few years on and off with 16v VWs.Subscribed...also interested to see how these work out for you. I will be building a lightweight custom single exhaust for my autocross car & want long-tube headers for the power band...just can't bring myself to spend $700-1000 for Bav Auto/Stahl models
Do you know how much these weigh?
Anyway, I'm sorry to say I don't know what they weigh, but they are pretty light... lighter than the OBX or IE short tubes I had before. The guys selling them on ebay were pretty helpful with measurements, I'm sure they'd check the weight for you.Leave a comment:
