    Thee inch to big?

Hey there, I was given a 3 inch stainless magnaflow muffler and I am wondering if three inch with one muffler is to big... Lack of back pressure? Before I build the exhaust Ill be buying headers, and I do have full intention on a built all motor m20... Noise is NOT an issue either.

    Thoughts and opinions please!

    Thanks.

single 3" is usually for 300-350hp.

I've got it (3" w/ resonator into Magnaflow). Definitely killed some midrange. Also drones like a bugger. I was planning on boost, so that was why I went so big. If you're not going to turbocharge it, I'd stick with a smaller diameter dual system.

Unless you're boosting your engine a single 2.5" system is plenty.

if you go with a 3" center section, be sure to get a oval section for the rear axel portion. I didn't and its the lowest part of my car which scrapes on many things. I will be redoing it to get nearly an inch of clearance back.

Or if you go 3" make sure your exhaust guy does a good job. Mine never scrapes.

not too big if you have good headers and merges.

it only drones if you don't have enough muffling.. or use a magnaflow :p

FWIW, I don't have an oval pipe under the subframe, and it doesn't scrape or really hang low at all. I wasn't happy about *everything* the guy did, but he did a really good job keeping it tight to the car.

What are you using for muffling?
