i recommend a magnaflow single 2.5" system. size of piping does not effect smog whatsoever, the catalytic converter is what effects that. you can get 2.5" cat with capacity fo 6.2L on ebay for $36 (catco). they also have dual stainless 10" resonators @ 2.5" for $36 for the pair on ebay, and you can get ebay exhaust for about $30 shipped. mandrel bent piping is about $18 per section from jegs.com, you'd probably need 2-3 for full system. and then finally one dual 2" to single 2.5" y-pipe from magnaflow.com to finish off the system. that should do the trick for a great free flowing street system.

..I just did a 2.5 " system incl hi flow mf cat and borla can.......its a wee bit loud but its very civil..just meaner....you cant beat price of a custom.......I do have some resonance but no biggie........

I did obviously a single out.....you can do so many things.....dynomax, flow master, borla, spintech etc; stainless, aluminized....all will sound different a bit and its hard to predict.....decide what your goals are....looks, sound, cost performance etc.......

i recommend magnaflow 5x8 can for best balance of noise and refinement, its very high quality refined noise. you can get a universal 5x8 magnaflow in either 14-18-22" lengths, but it will be fairly quiet. for the loudest magnaflow setup i'd go with their stainless exhaust cans with the tips preinstalled. they are like $100-130 from www.justmagnaflow.com

sorry to dredge up an old thread, But I was planning on going with a similar setupd as to what you mentioned BudgeBeater, I'm wondering why I would need that Y pipe, If im running single 2.5 all the way back through a cat to the single in dual out muffler. How would a single in dual out Y pipe hookup?

also the muffler you pointed out has a 2.25" inlet size, isnt that too small for single 2.5" piping?

you would only need the dual in if you were to keep your original muffler setuo(two pipes to the cat, two pipes out of the cat and then to the muffler) if you have the single 2.5" all the way through then you would only need a single 2.5" in mufffler. I like the idea of 2.25 all the way, magna flow exhaust, no cat.. Well i dont need to have one here, but they do hone the sound down better. IMO
