    Putting tips on stock muffler?

Don't care about small performance gains from the big name catbacks like remus, SS, etc. i hate my current loud hackjob ebay muffler and want to put a spare stock exhaust on cause it's nice and quiet. Only thing I dont like is the appearance, I'm thinking of cutting the stock tips off and welding some decent ends on and masking/spraying the rest black to clean it up a bit. Anyone have any pics of something like this? Dont want to buy the shit if it will look ghetto as hell.

Other alternative is a nice quiet 2x2 universal I can get welded in custom. Not looking at Magnaflow or anything, just something nice looking and has to be as quiet as stock

BMW sells tips for their exhausts. I use the polished black tips on my M3. Sorry...no pics. They were $7 each and slide over the existing tips. Knock it on with a hammer and wood.

I used these on my magnaflow muffler tips to make it more OEM looking =]. Apparently the price has tripled.

Yeah I looked them up on pelican and they're sitting at like $20-$30 a piece, and I don't think I'd go black as my sedan just isn't sporty enough to pull it off. I may take a look at some local auto parts stores for some straight cut stainless tips or something.

I'm still interested in quiet universal mufflers, I might take a look at some of the flowmaster quiet series cans as I really dont know what else to look at.
