How to install a Supertrapp end tip?

I'm trying to install a supertrapp end cap onto my Spec E30 exhaust. Not finding installation directions anywhere...how do you do it? I can't weld it on because the whole point was to have something I could remove...

There's a mysterious U-shaped clamp in the kit, is that what holds it on?

I believe you slide the pipe over existing pipe, and use the U-clamp to wrap around the overlapping pipe then tighten it.

Thanks, that was my guess, but it seems like that would be pretty flimsy. Hoping someone's done this and can confirm...

edit: nice! What's that goop in there?

Maybe some caulking to prevent exhaust leaks, but I've never seen that before either haha.
            Hi-temp material maybe?

I mounted it, but it sticks out so far it keeps grounding out in the exit of 8 and getting ripped off. Ugh
