    Any exhaust suggestions?

I'm looking for some exhaust suggestions for my 335i M30. I was gonna put get rid of the cat and put a resonator, then use a magnaflow dual tip muffler. I was told that will be really loud, especially with the 3.5.

What can I do to make it quieter without using a cat? i dont want to sacrifice the horsepower. Should i just use a factory muffler from e32/e34? or use my factory e30 muffler?

From what I know, the stock e30 resonator/rear exhaust is VERY free-flowing, and won't act as any sort of bottleneck, and it sounds great to boot. I'd say stick to those first, any aftermarket exhaust will surely sound louder, not softer.

Will the stock e30 exhaust be restrictive on an M30 though? or it doesn't really matter?

To the best of my knowledge, the stock 325i exhaust is well-designed and quite capable of handling engines of higher output than the m20b25.

aaah, thats the thing. It's not a 325i exhaust, it's a regular 325 exhaust, the 'super eta' car. I think i may have to find a 325i exhaust then....

If it is actually a "super ETA" then it should have the same exhaust as a 325i.

If you go aftermarket [which I would, fuck stock shit] then you could always do a muffler in the center section [where the car would be] and another muffler out back, that would probly do the trick.

I never thought of that, but if i do a muffler in the center of the car, i'm gonna have a nice ass massage for the people in the back seat. hhahahahhaha. I'm sure having 2 mufflers would quiet it down though. somethign to think about. thanx alot

The muffler in the center of the car acts as like the cat does, you don't have the muffler just end right there. You use the output of the first muffler to continue on to the next muffler at the rear of the car. Basically you have 2 mufflers inline in the exhaust system.

If you want to see a performance gain, you have to change the piping size. The factory system already uses a non-baffled muffler.
