    325is cat drawing

I've searched the forum and looked in the Bentley book, but I can't find an image that properly labels a 325is Catalytic converter. The local muffler shop cut mine off on accident and they're pointing to the heat shielded h-pipe saying that is the cat so they don't have to replace it. I need proof so I can force them to pay for a new cat since it's illegal for them to remove it and I have a VA state inspection to pass.

      It is all one unit.

Your image even shows "Front pipe with catalytic converter"

I'm not sure what you want, you seem to know it is an H-pipe, but you want them to put a cat in place of it?

They removed the cat and recycled it for several hundred dollars.

          Show them this link:

Part #1 (11 76 1 716 743) is a cat. It comes as one piece, from the flanges, all the way back, and is about $1200 from the dealer.

don't pay them for that job. they screwed you. e30 cats aren't horrible to come by and they last for a REALLY long time. these "mechanics" shouldn't be working on cars if they mistake a H-Pipe for a cat converter.. it's #1 in that diagram
