Looking for nice sounding replacement muffler. I don't want to get a cat back, just a muffler. I don't want it too sound like s**t either. I was looking at Flowmasters as they sound pretty nice and are on the cheaper side but I'm open to others. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

Well sound is subjective, so unless you want to throw cash at a wall and see what sticks, Id get a ride in a car with what you are thinking about getting and see for yourself.
I had a Dynomax on my 318, and it sounded awesome but droned.
If I could do it over again it would be stock exhaust with performance headers. Based purely on sound in this scenario.Back to my roots

Sorry for thread jacking but I am also in same boat as op, I got an 87 325i and the entire exhaust is awesome but muffler is beat up, now I got a free magnaflow 14816 the other day and I'm trying to figure out what to do with it.
Basically 2 options:
- Y-pipe after cat to 2.5" pipe all the way back to muffler
- Y-pipe right before oem muffler making twin 1.75" pipes into single inlet 2.5"
Just curious what everyone thinks is the best option, drone and loudness don't bother me just looking for the optimal solution is while trying to be cheap lol
